Gynecomastia Surgery – Remove Your Man Boobs!

Gynecomastia is a greek term, with the first front “gyne” meaning “woman” and “mastos” meaning “breast”. Nothing is wrong with that, IF it is on a woman. But this term is usually referred to the male counterpart instead. So, what does a man got to do with “woman’s breast”?

Well, it is actually a condition where a male, in his physiological state, developed abnormally large mammary glands. And this resulted in a man having a breast enlargement or more commonly known as “man boobs”.

Who wants to be a laughing stock or be regarded as freak by the way? A large majority of pubescent gynecomastia case among the boys are not due to obesity as thought by many. The exact cause remain unclear. But there are possibilities that it is generally attributed to an imbalance of sex hormones or the tissue responsiveness.

Gynecomastia surgery is not just a cosmetic surgery. But then health insurance company does not cover the cost. In their definition, gynecomastia surgery is cosmetic surgery. Ironic isn’t it?

Gynecomastia surgical procedure is in the form of glandular excision and liposuction in a combinatory manner. The excision is done in a hole near the nipple.

Basically the process is done using a general or local anesthetic. Liposuction procedure is impose first. It is to suck all the fat deposit on the breast area. After done that, the next step is a creation of a very small incision on the lower part of the areola. The glandular tissue which extends till right under the arm is removed.

A tube which act as a suction drain will be inserted within the first few days immediately after the surgery. This is to remove any retention of fluids. Otherwise, all efforts will be futile.

To cover things up, dissolvable stitches are used. The dissolvable stitches that are used will require the patient ot wear vest. It is quite constrictive. And the patient will need to wear it for few weeks after the surgery. The reason behind this is to prevent the skin from shrinking.

However, as a reminder for those who will undergo the surgery, it is best that you stay away from any forms of anabolic steroids. Your respective surgeon will remind you of this. If not, make use of this information that you are reading now. The reason for this is that they greatly increase chances of complications occuring after the gynecomastia surgery.

Clotting of blood is one of these complications. This (the clotting of blood) will indirectly increase the blood pressure. Some anabolic steroids can also lead to disturbance of liver enzymes. This may have very negative effects on the anesthesia.

Before, gynecomastia surgery, you should consult your respective doctor for advice. The doctor should also go through the entire medical history of the patient. This will help to decide whether or not gynecomastia is necessary or not for the patient.
